arlin report thought(s) of the day: prostate

Gentlemen, the beginning of the new year is a great time to get a PSA test through your doctor. Get that prostate checked to find out if you are at risk for cancer. Do not put it off until you are in your 60s. I think the younger (in your 40s at least) is a good time to start monitoring your prostate. A high PSA doesn’t mean you have prostate cancer, it is an indicator you are at risk. Find out as soon as possible.

The sooner you find about about your prostate health condition, the more options you’ll have for treatment.

You’ll see all kinds of books on line that assure they can prevent cancer if you follow their eating and exercise guides. Most is BS. Sure you can lower risk with diet and exercise, but still be a high risk for cancer. GET TESTED.

Had I known then (back in my 50s or maybe even 40s what I found out last July (2019) I’d have gotten tested much earlier. I was 65 when first tested with PSA. It was extremely high. Got retested a year later, a little lower but still very high. Then I had a biopsy. Sure enough I had cancer. I had surgery in October of last year, removed the prostate and the pathology test following surgery indicated I was cancer free. I go for another test the end of this month, just to be sure there aren’t any cancer cells that went undetected.

Sooner is better than later when it comes to your health.

Here is to a healthy new year!
