THE SNOW HAS ENDED IN ST. CHARLES, MO……………..& MY DRIVEWAY HAS BEEN PLOWED!! ARLIN REPORT THOUGHT(S) OF THE DAY

Jan. 30, 1982, heavy rain turned into snow, when 14 inches of snow fell on St. Louis. I remember it very well, I was coming home from my Grandfather’s funeral in Salem, Illinois. What was normally about a 2-1/2 hour drive turned into a 4 hour drive. There was heavy lightening during the rain. The lightening continued as the rain turned to snow. It was the first and only time I saw lightening (especially that severe) during a snowfall/storm. The snow flakes (I don’t mean todays soft young people) were huge and heavy.

The snowfall we had here (in St. Charles; about a 20-25 min. drive depending on traffic from St. Louis) the last couple of days (it finally ended yesterday evening) looks like it dumped about 8 inches. I measured 11 inches in a slight snow drift in the middle of a flat part of our yard. I was surprised the drift was that high in that spot. Oh well………it goes where the wind blows!
