Yesterday, Christmas Eve, I ran an errand to pick up a few items for my oil paintings. On the way, down Muegge Road here near St. Charles and St. Peters, MO there was a gentleman standing all alone on the sidewalk waving to people. He was dressed as Santa Claus. Not the most perfect image of Santa as this one was probably about 20 lbs on the slimmer side. But……..as he waved to me, with his huge smile, I waved back with my smile. About 40 minutes later on my return home Santa was still standing alone in the same location waving and smiling to those passing by. He was clearly enjoying himself. As I passed by with another wave, the traffic ahead of me slowed to nearly a stop. I looked around and could see all the people in their cars smiling and laughing. It was a simple act of kindness, he did not have to do. He spent, I say, a few hours doing this greeting on Christmas Eve. That was how he chose to spend his time, bringing some joy, smiles and laughter to people he probably didn’t even know. A simple act at a time people need to smile! Thank you Santa!
