In 1967, the expansion year for the St. Louis Blues franchise into the NHL, I was 15 years old. I turn 67 in August, and I admit I was wondering, as I have for some time, if I (we) would ever see a Stanley Cup Championship for the lovable, sometimes aggravating Blues; our team. St. Louis Blues fans do bleed blue. Every year we hope, and every year we have so often had the same results; close but no cigar! NOT ANY MORE! This amazing, relentless team, after being in last place on Jan. 3rd, turned this improbable season around with a newly inserted rookie goalie by the name of Jordan Binnington. Then, they all came together; and in game 7 against the Boston Bruins last night the boys in blue played an incredible game, possibly their best of the year. Their goalie stood on his head, kept the game scoreless early, until his team mates struck. The 3rd goal in the 3rd period made it comfortable. The forth put it away.
The Boys are bringing the Cup to St. Louis from Boston. Thank you! Can’t wait for the parade down Market Street on Saturday. GO BLUES!
