Trans-Pacific Partnership Being Pushed Through Before Anyone Has A Chance To Even Read It

Kind of like Obamacare, are you beginning to see an executive pattern with this presidential JACKASS?

Jasper and Sardine

(NaturalNews) Thanks to a treasonous President and a cabal of backstabbing, spineless Republican leaders, America stands tonight on the verge of plunging into outright “trade totalitarianism.”

The Drudge Report (see below) is headlining the news today, announcing “Republicans rush vote on Obamatrade before anyone reads it.” Congress and the President, in other words, are now behaving like a group of high school party boys in a mad rush to remove all the bear cans and vodka bottles from their family living room after learning their parents are returning home early from a family trip.

How is this not treason?

For reasons that still remain somewhat mysterious, a frantic push is on at the White House and the highest levels of Congress to pass the secretive TPP trade deal before anyone has a chance to find out what the document really says.

The abject absurdity of this situation goes beyond extreme:…

  1. OK…a few things here. We need to separate the AUTHORIZATION from the actual TREATY. What the house is voting on is the AUTHORIZATION to fast-track a trade deal for the president (any president…this one just happens to be a jackass). Basically what this authorization says is that the Senate must still approve trade deals, but that it only takes 51 votes, not 60.

That being said, there is a LOT of other stuff in here that has nothing to do with fast-track. Things like climate change legislation that Obama knows he’d never get through on it’s own. Things like immigration reform, that again, would never pass. Those are things the house is trying to strip out (the senate has already voted for it).

What Mitch McConnell said (and he was wrong about it in my view), was that it was ok to pass this, that the senate still has the up or down vote on the trade deal. Well, that part is true, but the other stuff that’s in there becomes law along with it, and that’s the bad part.

What congress SHOULD be working on is a “Law simplification law” which would state that any law can deal with one subject only and can’t be amended with meaningless items not germaine to the rest of the law.

The trade part of this bill is a good thing for the US (NOT the unions, but for the US economy as a whole). The authorization, as written, is not a good thing because it includes other items that shouldn’t be in the bill and need to be stripped out in committee. Just my three cents.

    1. And this is something they have failed to do for many years, stick to the subject. That won’t change on the honor system, it would have to be law, even then I am not so sure garbage doesn’t get small printed in, most of congress don’t read the docs, only want to know what the main point is and then listen to the pros and cons, vote on what they hear, not how it is written.

      1. And that is why congress needs to change the way they do business. It’s not necessarily the people…it’s the process that’s screwed up. Oh, the people are too…but we knew that!
